Common Problems Post Dual-Boot Windows / Linux

Typical scenario: you put a nice dual-boot Windows, but Ubuntu ... you made the mess (not part of an XP / Vista or Ubuntu)! And now you have to format one of the two operating systems. If problems with Ubuntu: searching the forums can help someone ... and they are all very helpful. In the forum there is the solution? If you have Ubuntu installed with Wubi you can uninstall from the Control Panel in XP / Vista Ubuntu and then reinstall all in 10 minutes (keep the tick in the requested backup qunado uninstall Wubi and used. iso file that was downloaded by putting it in the same folder as the wubi installer). Did not use wubi? Here is a little trickier. So 1) make sure you have the XP CD or Vista, if you have not download it (if you have Vista download Vista Recovery Disc by NeoSmart site and burn the file. Iso). 2) Go to Control Panel-> musical instrument Management-> Disk Management-> Manage disk and delete the ext3 partition (NOT the one that NTFS is Windows!). Then for XP: Put the Windows CD in the drive and click the choice will appear when R (should be the 1a), type 1 (if Windows was C:) and press Enter, you put the password of windows you have (if you have one) and press Enter, type "fixboot" (without quotation marks) and press Enter, type "fixmbr" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then you are running XP normalmete (start not choose to run Ubuntu of course) and you can reinstall Ubuntu (hard to devote all you need to Xp Partition Magic for a fee or other similar program to manage your hard disk .. x . yes, welcome back to the closed source Microsoft). If you have Vista: You must, however, put the CD in the drive NeoSmart Dvd Recovery Disc burned before. Reboot and press a button to start x from the drive (if F12/altro Fx impostarel'avvio button to access the CD before the hard disk). Choose Reset (not installed) and then access the propt. Type: Bootrec.exe / fixboot "and press Enter, type again" bootrec / fixmbr "and sent, then" bootrec / rebuilmbr. In Vista you can always use Disk Management to dedicate the entire disk in Vista itself: with esapndi partition (without Partition Magic etc). If you need any help just ask ... or read read read the forum! NB If you slaughter them with Microsoft and you have to reinstall it: Well there are the manuals, or you can write to Micosoft itself (maybe the answers come But ..... but point) .. or forums. Hasta la Vista (pun intended)
