This time, I devote a micro ranking the best software for Ubuntu Linux I tested. The criteria are primarily the functions implemented, stability, and graphics. Let's see those profits.
Graphics: Gimp and Picasa. The first one can fully substitute professional programs such as Photoshop, for image editing and graphic patterns. Some use it in conjunction with Inkscape (vector graphics) or video editing programs (creation of transitions etc). The latter is also known under Windows and therefore did not need any introduction. Picasa is software to manage your collection images / photos and make slight adjustments. Unfortunately, use wine to run in Linux, this is not reflected on the performance of course but if you Google the native development environment for * nix penguin friends would all be happier.
Category Accessories
: clamav (antivirus. .. do not be afraid just in case you are considerate to those who use Windows ...), Firestarter (GUI for the firewall already built into Ubuntu, it takes 4 clicks and you're done), Wine (and you can run almost all programs for Microsoft, including video games ... check out the wiki . Fantastic!) recordMyDesktop (to record video of what you see on your desktop video), Hardware Lister (view detail all your hardware and drivers used. Ed is not written in "mono" ergo better InfoSys) deborphan (removes libraries residual uninstalled programs), and Avant Windows Manager (mac-style dock so cool and easy to learn). Multimedia Category : Vlc (who does not?) And Audacious (light that audioplayer can use Winamp skins and more. Editor's Note has the equalizer.) But if you want to see the lyrics of the songs you hear then let Rhythmbox too! For those who use iPod (aaargggghrhhhh! was better the Samsung P2!) GPod or Atunes, or Rhythmbox (Amarok at all for those with Kubuntu / KDE). Veoh videos to see there is a "workaround": VeohProxy.
Office: OpenOffice better than MsOffice!
Category Internet: aMule (eMule for Linux, if you fatweb aMule course ...), Deluge (FileDownload to file. Torrent), Firefox (download to set the record in one day a few weeks ago!) or Ephyphany, Amsn (unfortunately the only really clone, even at the level of functions, Msn Live Messenger. Editor's Note I am following the progress of Galaxium Amsn and 2). Finally, a newentry for me the best Gnome Baker burner software for Gnome! Other than Brasero and K3B ... Well enough for today, I strongly urge you to look at these programs if your looking for something different. soon!
